Search كشري or ful medames. Names, synonyms, servings and numbers are localized. The catalog ships Egyptian and broader MENA staples, and the UI is full RTL — not a bolted-on translation of an English diary.

Generic calorie apps fail two ways in Egypt and the Gulf: the catalog does not know كشري from “rice, mixed,” and the UI cannot type Arabic grams. Adaptin indexes English names, Arabic names, and Arabic synonyms with pg_trgm + tsvector, and boosts the Arabic match when you type Arabic.

What is in the box

  • Egyptian core (koshary, ful, molokhia, taameya, mahshi) plus Gulf/Levantine dishes (kabsa, shawarma, hummus, labneh, dates).
  • Localized servings and number parsing (Western and Arabic-Indic digits).
  • ~600-food offline FTS5 bundle so search still works with no signal.
  • Barcode chain: local catalog → Open Food Facts → contribution flow if it is missing.

Photo-log apps (Kam Calorie, Willma) will still beat us on “snap the plate.” We beat them on micros, absorption, and a target that is not a signup-week formula. Different jobs.
